Mandy J Carr has been the Director of the Voices of Pop since 2007. She is a frequent soloist and accompanist in the area as well as a private voice and piano teacher., Ms Carr has long been an adjudicator and conductor for many events including community and festival student competitions and regional and county choruses.
Ms. Carr was a charter member of the Chamber Chorale of Fredericksburg and director of a local barbershop chorus. She was also a Choral Director at James Monroe High School for more than thirty years where she trained and conducted students for approximately forty music programs per year. During this time her award winning touring chorus did concerts in France, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and many areas of the United States.
Ms Carr received many awards during her teaching career, including Director of Distinction, Virginia Senate recognition and a Fredericksburg City Proclamation. She is a graduate of Madison College and did post graduate studies at several Virginia universities.
